Title:
Bayreuther Festspiele – Parsifal (2012)
Runtime:
~300-330 Minutes
Director:
Marc Schütrumpf
Synopsis:
This was the first ever live cinema broadcast of the Bayreuth Festival. It brought the spatial sound, the visual dramaturgy, and the festival’s characteristic tension directly into a shared viewing experience outside the Festspielhaus. The cinematic approach allowed for intimacy with the choirs and soloists without sacrificing the vastness of the stage. A starting point for the later cinematic tradition.
